ABOUT

Lincoln HS's Freestyle Ski Team is a dynamic sports group allowing skiers of all levels to improve their abilities on the mountain, with the capacity to coach 40-50 people. All park and free-ride skiers will have the opportunity to progress together as a community. Competing in competitions is encouraged, but if the rider just wants a low stakes weekly trip to the mountain, we are happy to oblige! We aim to provide a positive environment to all skiers and foster new friendships among different people with similar interests. Our coaches and volunteers will work to provide a safe experience for the skiers while still enabling them to enjoy the slopes with their new skills.

PRACTICE

We will have 8 coached practices on Wednesdays at Mt. Hood Meadows. Bus transportation to and from the ski resort provided. Buses and chaperones leave LHS at 2:15pm and arrive back at Lincoln by around 11:00pm. All students must have a confirmed ride home from Lincoln in advance. We rely on volunteer chaperones each week to help organize, ensure bus etiquette, find lots items, etc.

Dinner is provided and chaperones receive a lift ticket from Mt Hood Meadows, valid for the evening they attend.

COACHING

Coaches lead groups of riders through free-ride and practice competition disciplines: Slope-Style (jumps and rails), Half-Pipe, and Free-Ride (natural terrain). Practices will include mountain safety and etiquette. Riders are encouraged to take advantage of our talented coaches to advance existing skills, prep for competitions, or free-ride safely in groups with friends. The plans for each practice are subject to change based on mountain conditions.

COMPETITIONS

As one of the only schools in Oregon with a freestyle ski team, those whom who wish to compete can do so through USASA.

Competitions are open to all high schoolers and are hosted on weekend days.

Competitions require a separate fee and are found through USASA and the Team Stack app. More info will be available as the competitions are planned.

The team fee is $850, with an additional $100 due (refundable upon completion of volunteer service). Skiers must provide their own Mt Hood Meadows season pass.

Team fee pays for coaching, bus transportation, dinners, supplemental insurance, team sweatshirt, etc. It does not include skier lift tickets.
